Special Collections and University Archives

As part of the recent acquisition of the United States Playing Card Company collections, the Special Collections Library now houses several decks of historic cards, including x x and x. (get on Monday at 21N).  Most of these decks are hand-painted and include transformation cards, tarot cards, whist decks, and a set of cards produced in France to welcome back Napoleon on his return from exile on the island of Elba to Paris on 20 March 1815. Some of the cards are loose decks, whereas others are glued to acidic board.

Working with a conservator, we will find the best way to house these decks so that the can be safely and easily consulted by students and scholars.
